U.S. Air Force MQ-9A Reaper - 11th Attack Squadron, 25th Attack Wing, Creech - "Tiger" / U.S. Air Force MQ-9A Reaper - 11th Attack Squadron, 25th Attack Wing, Creech - "Tiger" Die Anfang 1942 ursprünglich als 11. Beobachtungsstaffel gegründete Einheit war während des Kalten Krieges hauptsächlich in der Aufklärung tätig und kam auch im Vietnamkrieg zum Einsatz, damals ausgerüstet mit der RF-4 Phantom. In den 1970er Jahren rüstete die Staffel auf die Ryan Firebee um, eine der ersten jetgetriebenen Drohnen, die sie für die fotografische Aufklärung einsetzte, bevor sie 1979 aufgelöst wurde. Eineinhalb Jahrzehnte später wurde die Einheit erneut aktiviert, diesmal als erste Staffel der US-Luftwaffe, welche die MQ-1 Predator-Drohne in Aufklärungs- und Überwachungsaufgaben einsetzte. Später übernahm sie zudem auch die Ausbildung für künftige Einheiten mit unbemannten Luftfahrzeugen. Die nun als 11. Angriffsstaffel bezeichnete Einheit fungierte nach der Indienststellung der größeren und leistungsfähigeren MQ-9 Reaper bis Ende 2025 weiterhin als Ausbildungseinheit für Start- und Landeübungen, danach stellte sie auf Kampfeinsätze um und wurde dem neu gebildeten 25. Angriffsgeschwader auf der Creech Air Force Base in Nevada zugewiesen. Im Jahr 2024 versah die Einheit insgesamt drei ihrer Reaper mit speziellen Lackierungen, die die Namen "The Hunter", "The Reaper" und "The Tiger" tragen. Originally set up as the 11th Observation Squadron in early 1942, the unit mostly served in the reconnaissance role during the Cold War, also seeing action in the Vietnam War, then equipped with the RF-4 Phantom. In the 1970s, the squadron reequipped with the Ryan Firebee, one of the first jet-propelled drones, which it used for photographic reconnaissance before being placed inactive in 1979. One and a half decades later, the unit was again activated, this time as the first remotely piloted aircraft squadron in the U.S. Air Force to operate the MQ-1 Predator in the reconnaissance and surveillance roles, later also adopting the training role for future unmanned Aerial vehicle (UAV) units. The then designated 11th Attack Squadron continued as a launch-and-recovery training unit after receiving the larger and more capable MQ-9 Reaper, through to late 2025, after which the squadron shifted to combat missions and was reassigned to the newly formed 25th Attack Wing at Creech Air Force Base, Nevada. in 2024, the unit applied special liveries to a total of three of its Reapers, named The Hunter, The Reaper – and The Tiger.
