Lufthansa Lockheed L-1649A Super Star Roll-out, Hamburg, January 17, 2025 In den 1950er Jahren galt die Lockheed L-1649 als Zeichen schlechthin für Innovation und Eleganz. Im Jahr 1957 stieß die Super Star zur Lufthansa Flotte und erhielt erstmals als exklusivste Reiseart die Senator-Klasse. Schwerpunkt des Einsatzes war die Verbindung nach New York, nonstop über den Nordatlantik. Mit ihren vier Kolbenmotoren schloss sie das Kapitel der klassischen Propellerflugzeuge ab. Diese bis zu 17 Stunden dauernden Flüge starteten in Hamburg, wo sich auch die Instandhaltungsbasis befand. Daher fand der Roll-out der restaurierten D-ALAN am 20. Januar 2025 an einem für Lufthansa und Lufthansa Technik gleichermaßen bedeutsamen Ort statt. Dort erhielt sie auch eine neue Kabine, die sich am Stil der 1950er Jahre orientiert. So stammen die Sitze aus einer früheren Lufthansa A340, sind aufwändig umgestaltet und mit weinrotem Leder bezogen. Auch der Teppich und die Vorhänge basieren auf historischen Mustern. Nach dem Roll-out wurde sie indes erneut in größere Segmente demontiert und per Schwertransport zum Flughafen Münster/Osnabrück gebracht. Dort entstand die Lackierung im Originaldesign der Lufthansa aus der sogenannten Parabelphase wieder. Schließlich traf im Oktober die Super Star in Frankfurt ein. Pünktlich zum 100. Gründungsjubiläum der ersten Lufthansa bildet sie dort vom Frühjahr 2026 an zusammen mit der legendären Junkers Ju 52 D-AQUI die Hauptattraktion des neuen Konferenz- und Besucherzentrums der Lufthansa Group. In 1957, the Super Star joined the Lufthansa fleet and was the first to feature Senator Class, the most exclusive travel option. Its primary route was the connection to New York, flying non-stop across the North Atlantic. With its four piston engines, it closed the chapter on classic propeller aircraft. These flights, which lasted up to 17 hours, took off from Hamburg, where the maintenance base was also located. Therefore, the roll-out of the restored D-ALAN on January 20, 2025, took place at a location that was equally significant for Lufthansa and Lufthansa Technik. There, it also received a new cabin interior inspired by the style of the 1950s. The seats were taken from a former Lufthansa A340, and were elaborately redesigned and upholstered in wine-red leather. The carpet and curtains are also based on historical patterns. After the roll-out, it was dismantled again into larger segments and transported by heavy haulage to Münster/Osnabrück Airport. There, the original Lufthansa livery from the so-called parabolic phase was recreated. Finally, the Super Star arrived in Frankfurt in October. Just in time for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the first Lufthansa, it will be the main attraction of the Lufthansa Group's new conference and visitor center from spring 2026 onwards, together with the legendary Junkers Ju 52 D-AQUI.
